Using AR and VR to Extend Beyond the Classroom Walls!

Augmented reality and virtual reality are the new buzzwords in technology and education. Augmented reality adds digital elements to a live view (such as Pokemon Go) and Virtual Reality, in contrast, creates an immersive experience in an alternate reality.

Reflection:

As of right now, the AR and VR tools on the market are a bit glitchy, and a strong working internet connection is necessary for them to work effectively. However, AR and VR provide opportunities to engage students in the learning process by taking students outside of the classroom and enabling them to make real connections to the world around them. AR and VR are particularly suitable for History and Geography classes. Taking students on virtual field trips to explore major landmarks or view a 3D depiction of an event can communicate much more effectively than reading from a text book.
